Are you waiting on a Rescuer?

Image
They waited for years, centuries. Waiting for that King to come and rescue them from their oppressors.  From the people who did things contrary to what they had been taught. They sometimes got caught up in the society around them. Fell into the same pit of sin that everyone else around them was wallowing in. But, oh, they were sorry, they repented, they cried out to their God, they pleaded for a King. They kept hoping for Someone to turn things around and lead them into victory.  To be on the winning side. And so a King was sent.  He came to conquer, to reign. But the people, the majority, missed it. And they killed Him. His people thought it was over.  No King = no kingdom. But He had only begun setting up his Kingdom.  He had only begun to reign. ______________ We keep waiting.  Waiting for that right person to come into government.  To rescue us from those who do thing contrary to what we believe. We sometimes (quite often...

June Lookback

Image
Oh, June went fast.  We started the month with a few final days of school, celebrating by going to the zoo and eating ice cream.  The month rolled on with Owen going to basketball camp and led into the next week of all three kiddos attending Vacation Bible School.  We finished the final full week of June with a trip out East.  Our first ever Suvar Party of 5 vacation.  11 hours on the road got us to Williamsburg, VA where we spent a quite splendid week (pics of that trip in a post coming soon). And here we are in July.  One full month left of summer vacation. June filled up fast.  We are hoping for a bit more space between the hours of July, trying to get all we can out of the more slow paced life of summer.  But for the moment, here are the moments of June, presented in picture form:  Owen worked hard all year to get the most points in his grade for Accellerated Reader.  He accomplished just that...and received a medal for ...

May Lookback

Image
May kept us hopping with the continuation of soccer three nights a week (good grief!) and various end of school year events. I realized toward the end of the month that May had been a Gateway reunion of sorts for me.  One of our former 'kids' (resident) moved back to our area.  Our whole family was pretty stoked as we are able to see a lot more of him now, and even had him join us for our Friday Night Pizza supper. And we got a card and picture in the mail from another former resident - graduating from high school and doing well! Soon after I get a visit at my office from two of our former residents, one even stayed and talked with me for an hour and a half. And to wrap it up, we attending the high school graduation of yet another of our 'kids.' Whew.  All in one month.  Seems if goes way too long with no news from anyone and then... When it rains it pours - in a good way. Amidst all the "reunions" we took in a baseball game, Mad...

The Tri-State Converges

Image
We started out as a handful of newlyweds, early 20's, still working our way through school. Paul met Keith through an on campus Bible Study and it was found out that they were both getting married within a few weeks of one another. One thing led to another and soon we were meeting on Tuesday nights, working through the Word, challenging one another, and helping each other navigate the path of married life + college. We did that for 2 straight years.  I think the only time we missed a Tuesday was for Christmas break. I have thanked God countless times for these precious couples He placed in our lives.  God-honoring husbands and wives who have brought about some pretty sweet, Jesus-loving children as well. Thankful that nearly 13 years later we can sit down and pick right up where we left off. We now live several hours apart from one another: Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan. Thank you, Davis's, for hosting the converging of the Tri-State. We...
